Dr Nathan Gooley is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Yard, where he leads the company’s mission to provide Australians with a broad range of lending solutions across residential, commercial, and specialist finance. Nathan brings more than 20 years of experience across institutional banking, treasury, private equity, and venture capital. He has held senior leadership roles within the Australian financial sector, including in Westpac Institutional Bank’s Group Treasury division, where he worked on funding, liquidity, and interest rate risk at a global scale. Nathan holds extensive academic qualifications in finance and business, including a PhD in Finance from the University of Newcastle, where his dissertation focused on bank funding and liquidity management core drivers of how lenders structure and price loan products. He also holds a Master of Applied Finance, a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Sydney, and additional postgraduate study through the University of Oxford. In addition to his industry career, he has spent many years as a finance lecturer at both the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the University of Sydney, reflecting his commitment to making complex financial topics clear and practical for everyday borrowers. His expertise spans mortgage lending, funding markets, credit conditions, and the broader economic forces shaping Australian property and finance landscape. He contributes expert oversight across Yard’s lending education resources, ensuring guidance is accurate, practical, and grounded in real-world financial and market experience.
